It took a short-term service trip for three incredible organizations to come together to create something amazing for the Cleveland community. When Erik Miller, son of The Ohio Floor Company’s vice president, went on a weeklong service trip to the Greater Cleveland City Life Lincoln West Club with local service organization Steppin Out Missions, he and one of his leaders noticed that the gym floor at the club was worn out.
When Erik got home, he and his group leader, Joel Corley, as well as Erik’s dad Kevin, discussed the idea of updating the club’s gym floor with the help of The Ohio Floor Company. It was decided that the 104-year-old club floor would be updated by The Ohio Floor Company at no cost to the City Life Club.
It was an easy decision for The Ohio Floor Company, as the Greater Cleveland City Life Lincoln West Club is part of Greater Cleveland Youth For Christ, and organization that aims to reach young people by working to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus Christ. The organization focuses on building relationships with local youth to create relationships with the local community and cultivate deep change in the neighborhood through the raising of indigenous leaders from the young people of that community.
The Ohio Floor Company was eager to use their talents and services to help the Greater Cleveland City Life Lincoln West Club succeed. “One of the reasons for doing business and being successful financially is to help others. One of the reasons for following Christ personally in my life is to serve others. As a Christian businessman I have the great opportunity and responsibility to use my talents and resources to help and serve others,” said Steve Yoder, The Ohio Floor Company president. The club now enjoys their brand new gym floor, and The Ohio Floor Company is happy to have helped them build into their community to reach young people for Christ.
